Abstract

And to all my friends who were there for me through it all. ii ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS Working on this thesis has been one of my greatest learning experiences. It has challenged me in ways I never thought possible, and has provided me with skills that will be beneficial throughout my life. All of this would not be possible without the guidance and encouragement of my advisor, Dr. David Dilts. He taught me everything I know about good research, and has always pushed me to do better. I am grateful to all of the technology transfer directors all over the country, who took the time to respond to my surveys. And I must say a special thanks to Dr. Chris McKinney, who provided me with a great deal of guidance on conducting research in the area of university technology transfer. He also gave much needed assistance in recruiting subjects for my study. I also wish to thank Sean Hackett for being a mentor to me throughout this thesis. He took time from his own studies, to read and edit my various drafts, and to ensure that I was not making some of the common errors of research
