Data Acquisition System for Macintosh LC

By Malcolm A. T. Fraser and Neil R. Thomson

A multichannel data acquisition system for the Apple Macintosh LC computer has been designed and built. Internal to the Macintosh, a digital I/O (Input/Output) card connects into the Macintosh LC processor-direct slot (an expansion bus closely coupled to the Motorola 68030 CPU used). External to the Macintosh is a box containing a 16 channel analogue multiplexer and a 100 kHz analogue to digital converter and the necessary logic to interface them to the digital I/O card. Uses for the system include monitoring VLF radio signals in the upper atmosphere and in the teaching laboratories
