A Decision-Support Framework for Electronic Commerce in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises

Abstract

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) need help in making better decisions about e-commerce investments. In this paper a tool for the continuous improvement of the decisionmaking process is presented. The tool is designed to meet the needs of SMEs ’ by understanding the concept of e-commerce through combining organizational aspects with the integration of information and communication (ICT). Using the tool, decision-makers will be able to quickly acquire substantial knowledge about e-commerce investments, which will lead to better decisions on e-commerce investments. The tool is part of a conceptual framework introduced here with the objective of supporting decision-makers in their initial steps at the beginning of a decision-making process.
