Optical Diagnostics of Laser Induced Breakdown in Argon at Atmospheric Pressure

Abstract

Abstract. In the present work, argon plasma produced by a Nd:YAP laser (1078 nm, Passive Mode Locking) was investigated at atmospheric pressure. The electron temperature was determined by mean of Saha-Boltzmann method using Ar I and II lines. The electron density was calculated from Stark broadening of Ar I lines. The electron temperature is obtaining values in range 1.5- 1.16 eV showing slight decrease during 400 ns time after laser shot. The electron density decays from 4.2×10 16 cm-3 at the beginning to 2.8×10 17 cm-3 after 400 ns delay
