By Tomi Heimonen

With advances in technology, we are no longer chained to the desktop computer for our information needs. Mobile information access is an emerging field of research that combines approaches from information retrieval and visualization and mobile humancomputer interaction. The PhD research work presented in this position paper addresses the issues related to facilitating the users’ evaluation of Web search results on mobile devices. We aim to study how people evaluate and use search results on mobile devices and develop new, effective ways to present search results and search result collections. The results of this research will add to our understanding of the phenomena related to mobile information access and the ways how the users ' active information acquisition process can be supported with novel presentation techniques. 1
