Today’s lecture reviews the key concepts and results on stability of system and how to apply them to the transport protocols in terms the strategy of adjusting flow rate to avoid oscillation in the presence of delays. First we use Nyquist Criterion to study the stability of a linear system. Then show its application on local stability of transport protocol as the network is linearized around an equilibrium point. Finally we present an approach by Razumikhim of determining the global stability of the highly nonlinear network with delays. I
