English on-line Olympiad as a new method of students’ knowledge assessment

Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyze English on-line Olympiad as a new kind of Olympiad, which appeared due to the rapid development of modern technologies. The research focuses on functional peculiarities of English on-line Olympiad and compares it with English Olympiad, performed without usage of ICT. Through showing advantages and disadvantages of English on-line Olympiad, this research highlights the importance of such kind of Olympiad as a method of students’ knowledge control.
