Comparison of Parameterisation Models for the Estimation of the Maximum Power Output of PV Modules

Abstract

AbstractIn this paper five heuristic models for the estimation of the maximum power output of photovoltaic (PV) modules with different numbers of parameters (one/two/three/four) using irradiance and PV module temperature as inputs are presented. To validate the performance of the presented models, logged data of mono-crystalline and HIT modules from high-precision outdoor module performance testing in Singapore are used. Results show that the one- and twoparameter models have disadvantages at low irradiances. Two different types of three-parameter models show as good results as the four-parameter model and hence seem to be a good compromise between model complexity and accuracy
