Humanism and consumerism in Herbert Marcuse ́s perspective

Abstract

this article presents a concise reflection on human condition, in the light of the rational subject and consumption and use of technology, having Herbert Marcuse as a model, and taking as the main topics some of his works –Technology, War, and Fascism, Eros and Civilization, and The End of Utopia–. Through these, it will be possible to identify some aspects of human condition in the 20th century, addressed from the technological rationality in a consumer ́s society
