Auroral Simulation Experiments with a High Power Electron Beam (a. Precipitating Particles and Auroras) (Proceedings of the First Symposium on Coordinated Observations of the Ionosphere and the Magnetosphere in the Polar Regions (Part I))

Abstract

Laboratory and space experiments using a high energy electron beam (≲10 keV) are carried out. Excitation of auroral lines (5577Å, 3914Å) and strong VLF and HF emissions are observed. It is hoped that these active experiments are carried out by rockets in Antarctica to understand auroral phenomen
