ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN WATER SYSTEM MANAGEMENT

Abstract

Zahvaljujući reljefnim specifičnostima Istre, smještaja izvora vode (dolina rijeke Mirne) te smještaja stanovništva i razvoja turizma, opskrba vodom odvija se uz stalnu izmjenu potencijalne energije vode. Voda se iz izvora diže (pumpa) na kote između 200 i 300 m.n.m., te se dalje transportira gravitacijskim cjevovodima do distribucijskih vodosprema koje su smještene na oko 60 m.n.m. Automatizacija i optimizacija pumpanja na bazi modela tarifa el. energije i potrošnje vode, smanjit će trošak, ali u tome se procesu potencijalna energija vode pretvara u nekorisne oblike energije. Raspoloživi hidroenergetski potencijal može se iskoristiti izgradnjom malih hidroelektrana te proizvedenu električnu energiju prodavati na tržištu (obnovljive) električne energije.Thanks to Istria´s geographical particularities, the position of water springs (the Mirna valley) and the location of inhabitants and tourism development, water supply unfolds through constant water potential energy exchange. Water is pumped from springs to between 200 and 300 meters above the sea level and via gravitational pipes further transported to the distribution tanks situated approximately 60 meters above the sea level. The automation and the optimization of pumping operation according to the electricity tariff and water demand is reducing the cost of pumping, but during this process water´s potential power is lost to various forms of energy. The lost hydro energetic potential could well be saved and utilized through small hydro power plants and newly created energy could sold on the renewable electical energy market
