Uzgojno-tehnološke mogućnosti ublažavanja utjecaja preživača na okoliš

Abstract

With growing global demand for livestock products, the pressure agriculture has on environment is getting bigger and bigger. Livestock production, in particular, represents big threat for environment, natural resources and it contributes to global warming by emitting greenhouse gases with high warming potential (methane and nitrous oxide). Besides the high land use and water consumption, ruminant animals are the biggest emitters of greenhouse gases in agriculture through enteric fermentation and manure management. Mitigation of those gases and better management of animal husbandry and manure is needed. In order to successfully respond to rising demand for animal protein, whole industry will have to adapt to climate changes, as well as find a feasible way to mitigate further negative impact and environmental degradation regarding production system and given conditions.Uslijed povećane potražnje za životinjskim proizvodima, pritisak poljoprivrede na okoliš postaje sve veći i veći. Uzgoj životinja predstavlja veliku prijetnju za okoliš, prirodne resurse i pridonosi globalnom zatopljenju kroz emisiju stakleničkih plinova s velikim potencijalom globalnog zatopljivanja (metan i dušikov oksid). Osim visoke potrebe za zemljištem i vodom, preživači su najveći proizvođači stakleničkih plinova u poljoprivredi kroz fermentaciju u probavnom sustavu i gospodarenje stajskim gnojem. Smanjenje emisije plinova i bolje upravljanje proizvodnim procesima su neophodni. Kako bi uspješno odgovorila na povećanu potražnju, cijela industrija se treba prilagoditi klimatskim promjenama i pronaći izvediv način za smanjenje daljnjeg negativnog utjecaja na okoliš s obzirom na proizvodne sustave i okolišne čimbenike
