The Good News and the Bad News for Frail Older People

By Sandra M. Dwyer

Full text currently not available from the LRA.This paper is focused on the quality of care afforded to frail older people. Positive developments are looked at and ongoing concerns are outlined. The issues covered include the following: lower numbers going into care; too many older people entering permanent care via 'respite' care; the average person has little chance of entering a council-staffed care home; privately funded residents miss out on the reviews afforded to local authority supported residents; and the protection provided by the Mental Capacity Act 2005.Peer-reviewe
