Concentrations of pentachlorophenol and lindane in various assortments of wood

Abstract

Waste wood is often contaminated with pentachlorophenol (PCP) and lindane. To get a general view over the extent of contamination various samples of wood are examined. For the analysis PCP is derivatised by acetic anhydride. The determination of both compounds is carried out by GC/ECD. The resluts show that PCP concentrations of most samples are significantly higher than those of lindane. Wooden waste window frames exhibit the highest PCP contaminatio
