In this study the characteristics of the existing researches in the field of health education were examined and metrically analyzed as a step to find the "structure" of this field. Master theses of three universities were chosen for the analysis, and they were evaluated from the seven viewpoints (e.g., relation to health, relation to education, etc.). Cluster analysis was applied to the data of the evaluation from these viewpoints in order to obtain a grouping of the researches. Furthermore, a "map" of the researches was drawn by utilizing principal component analysis. The results of the two methods which resembled each other suggested that the researches in this field could be classified into eight to ten groups. Finally, a "structure" of health education was presented, and methodological issues of this study were discussed
