Accountability for public expenditure on education within the context of federal systems of government: a review of the literature

Abstract

The report provides a range of education statistics, including student enrolments and participation rates, total recurrent and capital expenditure and average student unit costs. The main focus of the report is an examination of resources allocated to employment, education and training in Australia over the last 20 years, including expenditure by governments, private providers, individuals and industry, and of the level of resources likely to be needed in the future
