Resistance to <i>Globodera pallida</i> provided by transgenic expression of a behavioural disrupting peptide in potato.

Abstract

<p>Resistance is conferred by expression of the peptide under control of a root-tip specific promoter (<i>MDK4–20</i>) in trials in both a containment glasshouse (light shading) and the field (darker shading) relative to <i>G. pallida</i> eggs in soil after multiplication on untransformed cv Désirée. Values are means ± sem based on 2 replicate samples for each of ten pots per line in containment and pools of nine samples for each of 4 replicate plots per line in the field. The differences between transgenic lines and the corresponding wildtype control are shown (***, P<0.001; **, P<0.01; *, P<0.05; oneway ANOVA with <i>a priori</i> contrasts).</p
