RCAN1.4 induction requires Ca<sup>2+</sup>, calcineurin and PKC activity.

<p>HDMEC were incubated with the inhibitors ZM (3 µM), BAP (20 mM), EGTA (2.5 mM), GFX (3 µM), Go (3 µM). CsA (100 nM) or U0126 (5 µM) for 30 minutes, and then stimulated with: (<i>A</i>) VEGF-A (50 ng/ml), (<i>B</i>) PMA (100 nM), or (<i>C</i>) A23187 (5 µM) for 1 hour. Expression of <i>RCAN1.4</i> mRNA, relative to unstimulated (basal) cells, was determined by RT-qPCR. Results were normalised to <i>β-actin</i> expression.
