Mejor muertas: mujeres al límite


This paper explore the female´s representation in the film Thelma & Louise. Firstly, this representation is analysed by putting into context the cinematographic product as a construct and constructor of the public opinion. Secondly, it is analysed as a discursive text that involves a social representation. Particularly, an analysis of the female´s representation personified in the characters who give their name to the film is taken into account. These characters take us in and adventure that crosses landscapes and conflicts culminating in a “feminist” discourse of liberation, in which women break with all Patriarchate´s ties and manage to escape in an unexpected turn: the escape to emptiness.En este trabajo se explora la representación de lo femenino en el film Thelma & Louise. Se analiza esta representación primero contextualizando el producto cinematográfico como constructo y constructor del imaginario social y luego como texto discursivo que encierra una representación social. En particular se analiza como la representación de lo femenino encarnado en los personajes que dan nombre al film, nos llevan en una aventura que atraviesa paisajes y conflictos que culminan desde un aparente discurso “feminista” liberador donde dos mujeres rompen todas las ataduras del patriarcado y logran escapar en un desenlace inesperado: la fuga al vacío
