TRANSFORMING LEGAL LEARNING

Abstract

This paper discusses the development of computer-based learning (CBL) in law in the United Kingdom. It argues that the growth of CBL in law has been slow because of a number of inhibiting factors some of which, such as the computer illiteracy of lawyers, are similar to those in other disciplines, while others such as the nature of law, legal culture and education are specific to law. However, it is suggested that there is substantial evidence of change in this situation and the paper reviews recent developments which suggest that CBL in law is nearing the take-off stage
