The Action Research of Observing Merits and Appreciating Kindness on Junior Sports Team—A Case Study of Male Basketball Team of Lujhou Junior High School in Taipei County

[[abstract]]This study primarily conducts the course of Observe Merits and Appreciate Kindness (OMAK) to explore the situation of the sports team by applying the approach of action research, and tries to solve the problems that meet in the process of conducting. The participants in this study are men’s basketball team of Lujhou junior high school in Taipei. The study lasts twelve weeks from March to May in 2010, and it spends two periods on activity experience and film appreciation on every Monday. The research data are collected from the OMAK checklists, charts of positive thinking, sheets of students’ learning, teaching diary of researcher, parent’s respondence, growth diary of players, and so on. They are used to evaluate the effects on player’s learning. Consequently, the findings in this study are shown below: 1.The approach of OMAK could benefit sports team in terms of training attitudes. 2.The course of OMAK could effectively promote player’s ability of observing merits. 3.The course of OMAK could effectively improve player’s ability of appreciating kindness. 4.The course of OMAK could advance in positive thinking of players. Finally, the researcher provides some suggestions for the course of OMAK and future researches. Keywords: Observe Merits and Appreciate Kindness (OMAK);positive thinking.
