[[abstract]]In modern Taiwan, dancer as an occupation is not a “reputable” one. Behind the gorgeous appearance, dancers have to undergo many hardships unknown to others. Except some of the famous dancers, most dancers should realize the distance between the ideal and the reality and face it. This study focuses on the individual body story of a Taiwan dancer. In Taiwan artistic performance field, dancers manage their bodies in their own particular ways. Through probing into their life stories, we probably may understand their inner experience after reading their stories. In this report, I didn’t choose the most well known dancer as the representative; instead, I interviewed a senior and unique female dancer here. She is a feminist practiced through her body and creates lots of avant-garde dancing performance. From different aspects, individual, dance, body and life, she presents her unique characteristics and specialties. For her, body is another self, an either beloved or annoyed one, undetermined and unpredictable. She tries to achieve her goals almost with all means, no matter to manipulate the socialized standard body or to look for her desired body. What others may take as a masochist behavior is simply a process of pursuing for extremity. She is eager to undergo some marvelous and mysterious experiences through her body. For her, body is not only a tool of expressing her ideal, but a way of exposing her emotion. Such particular process of managing her body makes her a unique dancer in Taiwan, a dancer who gives her all to dance in her whole life.
