[[alternative]]A Study on the Application of Performance Management in Junior High School Administration:Example of Taipei City and Taipei County

Abstract

[[abstract]]The purposes of this study are (1) to explore the concepts of performance management, (2) to investigate the application of performance management in public junior high schools of Taipei city and Taipei county, (3) to offer conclusions and suggestions for application of performance management in public junior high school. The study has adopted the methods of questionnaire survey and personal interview. Firstly, the subject of questionnaire survey, with sample size of 762 junior high school staffs and the effective number of samplers 492, from 60 public junior high schools by randomly selected, and the data of questionnaire is processed for statistical analysis under “ SPSS for Windows 11.01 “ statistics package software. Secondly, conquested 3 principals and 1 administrator participated the semi-structure personal interview. The main conclusions of this study are as follows: 1. The present situation of performance management in public junior high school of Taipei city and Taipei county as well, but the part of human resources management still have improvement space. 2. The worse level of junior high school performance management is performance appraisal. 3. Performance management can improve effectiveness of school administration and teacher instruction, and promote support and cooperation of school staffs, but the value of Performance management from school staffs have some difference. 4. The school implements performance management really have some difficulties, no matter in the operation of the school , or the current regulations , all remain to solve further. 5. When the school implements performance management, in the strategic plan , human resources management and financial management, can adopt some methods , in order to avoid some difficulties that may meet. 6. If the school can fully grasp the implementation principle of performance management , and apply school administration management, even not implemented performance management system formally , can still get the same utility , and can improve the whole effectiveness of the school. According to the results of the study, some suggestions are proposed to the educational administration authority, the junior high schools administrator and further studies.
