[[abstract]]ABSTRACT Current evaluation of instruction for painting is mainly based on instructor's subjectivity. It will enhance instructional effectiveness if students may participate in the evaluation; thus evaluation of instruction can be a strategy and a means of allowing students, through the process of evaluation, to deeply realize their achievement and difficulty in learning. This study, through theoretical analysis, conjoins art theory, evaluation of instruction, and fuzzy theory to propose " fuzzy theory assessment approach", which is more thoroughly expressive and synthesizes uncertain opinions. Also, through theoretical analysis of evaluation of painting, this study investigates indices of evaluation for painting , and develop appropriate evaluation method with student participation. Also, this study applies, from the new concept of judging membership, the fuzzy theory assessment approach to construct "The Fuzzy Theory Based Evaluation Method with Student Participation", which allows the evaluator's subjective feeling to express in a more flexible form without losing the spirit of objectivity, to analyze the differences between "goods" and "no goods" in art work. Furthermore, by conducting an empirical research, this study examines the function of "The Fuzzy Theory Based Evaluation Method with Student Participation", and verifies that it has better reliability and validity and can increase the applying efficiency of "evaluation of painting - with student participation". Besides making conclusion for the whole study, this dissertation also provides suggestion for further application and further research.
