Problems Leading to Systems of Polynomial Equations and their Solving Methods in the History of European Mathematics

Abstract

Tato práce obsahuje úlohy vedoucí na soustavy polynomiálních rovnic v Evropě od 5. do 16. století, způsob eliminace neznámých a jejich označování. Práce je rozdělena do čtyř kapitol chronologicky podle podle roku vzniku díla, z něhož jsou úlohy převzaty, případně podle data autora. V první kapitole najdeme obecné shrnutí středověké matematiky. Druhá kapitola se zabývá úlohami, které řešili matematikové do první poloviny 13. století (např. Fibonacci, Gerbert, Nemore). Ostatní kapitoly jsou rozděleny dle původu autorů a zahrnují období 14. až 16. století (např. Itálie - Dardi, Tartaglia, Německo - Regiomontanus, Francie - Chuquet).Katedra matematiky, fyziky a technické výchovyObhájenoThis thesis is devoted to problems solved in Europe from the 5th century to the 16th century, which we could write today as a system of polynomial equations. The methods of elimination of unknown quantities and their marking are described. The thesis is divided into four parts in chronological sequence according to years when works, which contain these problems, were created. There is general summary of mediaeval mathematics in the first chapter. The second chapter deals with problems which were solved by mathematicians from the first half of 13th century (e.g. Fibonacci, Gerbert, Nemore). The remaining chapters are divided according to origin of authors and include period from 14th to 16th century (e.g. Italy - Dardi, Tartaglia, Germany - Regiomontanus, France - Chuquet)
