[[abstract]]為維護國人健康及消費者權益,我國於民國88年8月開始實施「健康食品管理法」,加強對健康食品的管理與監督。實施多年後,行政院會於民國93年5月通過「健康食品管理法」修正草案,並於95年5月正式公告實施。新法中健康食品的查驗登記制度,採用雙軌制管理:維持目前實施之健康食品管理法個別產品功效評估試驗審查,或依公告的成份規格標準審查。本計畫為因應健康食品雙軌制的實施,將針對具有調節血脂功能的植物固醇(phytosterols)進行成分規格標準化之建立,實施內容包括:相關研究文獻蒐集,植物固醇降低血中膽固醇的機制及其攝取量、是否會引起的副作用及其用量的安全性、進行植物固醇的常被引用及公定分析方法的比較;篩選適合的植物固醇分析方法,建立分析強化或天然不同類型食物中的植物固醇的方法、修飾分析步驟以排除食物樣品之基質干擾因素;擬定可宣稱之食品種類或範圍以及建議每日與每份攝食量。將研究結果建立中英文規格標準化草案,以供衛生署辦理健康食品查驗登記及管理之參考。 Dietary phytosterols have accumulated plenty of evidences and data to be used as active ingredients for Health Food products with cholesterol lowering effects. The aim of this project is to establish specification and standard to regulate the food products containing phytosterols and their limitation of claims. We will collect, review and analyze the literatures concerning mechanism of cholesterol lowering function, safety and side-effect of phytosterols and existing forms and occurrence of phytosterols in nature food and processed food products. On another hand, we will develop and modify the analytical methods suitable for general quality control laboratory to monitor the content of phytosterols based on official and popularly used analytical methods. The results will assist us to make the final proposal to the government and food industry for regulation of phytosterol containing Health Food products
