An experimental study on the timing of breeding and migration in the three-spined stickleback (gasterolsteus aculeatus L.)

By Bertha Baggerman

Chapter 1. The present study deals with problems concerning the causation of seasonal breeding cycles. In the 3-spined Stickleback the influence on gonadal development of various external and internal conditions at different times in the annual reproductive cycle has been studied experimentally. Attention has been paid not only to factors causing the onset of breeding, but also to those terminating the breeding season.
