The present work discusses three main topics. First is review of water supply throghout the world and Slovenia, further water supply in Šaleška valley. Here are shown individual regions over the world and state of water avaliability. There are mostly areas with lack of water resources, a large problem is also water pollution in all regions. Water resources in Europe are are very uneven. Most European countries use surface water for drinking water. Pollution of these waters is a serious problem in all Europe. In Slovenia, there is very uneven disposition of rainfall, therefore water is variably avaliable. In Šaleška valley the water supply is carried out by Komunalno podjetje Velenje d.o.o., which runs with water treatment plant Grmov vrh. Existing treatment plant is not efficient enough, therefore it needs to be reconstructed. Second part of present work includes review of adequate processes for water treatment. It includes description of standard processes nad ultrafiltration as newer process. Ultrafiltration is compared with standard processes and than established which process in most adequate. In the third part there are described possible ways of financing public services, and how to get money from European Union. In the last part there are presented two different technological ways of treatment plant. First presents reconstruction of existing plant, and second presents new construction with ultrafiltration. At the end is performed an ecenomical analysis of both variants and given a proposition of best one
