Measurement of ultrafast relaxation processes by transient photophysical hole-burning

Abstract

Transient photophys. hole-burning was used to measure the homogeneous linewidth of the short-lived S2-state of phenanthrene in isopentane/2-methylpentane glass at 4 K. A homogeneous linewidth of (67 +- 7) cm-1 was found corresponding to a lifetime of (79 +- 8) fs
