CHANGES OF THE BARORECEPTOR REFLEX ON RATS ANESTHETISED WITH �HALOTHANE AND ENFLURANE. (AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY)

Abstract

THE PURPOSE OF OUR EXPERIMENT WAS TO ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS: 1) DO HALOTHANE AND ENFLURANE INFLUENCE THE BARORECEPTORS FUNCTION AND TO WHICH DEGREE? 2) WHAT IS THE EFFECT OF HYPOGLYCEMIA A-HYPERGLYCEMIA ON THE BARORECEPTORS?3) DOES THE COMBINATION OF HYPERGLYCEMIA-HYPOGLYCEMIA AND HALOTHANE-ENFLURANE ANESTHESIA HAVE ANY EFFECT ON THE FUNCTIONAL PERFORMANCE OF THE AORTOCAROTID BARORECEPTORS AND TO WHICH DEGREE? FROM THE RESULTS WE CONCLUDE THAT: THE INDUCED HYPERGLYCEMIA AND HYPOGLYCEMIA HAD NO EFFECT ON THE BARORECEPTOR REFLEX. ENFLURANE AND ESPECIALLY HALOTHANE PRODUCED A STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT DEPRESSION OF THE REFLEX AND THE COMBINATIONS OF HALOTHANE-ENFLURANE ANESTHESIA AND HYPERGLYCEMIA AS WELL AS HYPOGLYCEMIA AND ANESTHESIA WITH THE MENTIONED ANESTHETICS HAD NO STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT SYNERGIC EFFECT. ONLY QUANTITATIVE CHANGES APPEARED.
