Recently, European education ministers defined some principles to create a common Higher Education Area. In Italy this reform process provided significant transformations of the national university system and of the students ’ mobility with a decentralization process characterized by an increase of university enrolment and of academic sites. Results provided by the model are compared with official ministerial data, showing that the model can efficiently describe the students ’ mobility phenomenon
