La hora del bricoleur mecánico
The essay analyses a recent ethnography on the repair and maintenance of motorcycles in Romania from the Second
World War to the present day. Bearing in mind the very definition of the object, the analytical and conceptual premises
of the anthropology of motorcycle culture, the methodological strategies that document it and some of the most
significant particularities of the post-Soviet historical context and of “the post-repair society”, it is possible to rethink
the apparently technical phenomenon of motorcycle mechanics as an authentic total social fact that modulates a
set of geopolitical, economic, technical, identity, symbolic, aesthetic, age and gender variables. In addition, some
lines of comparative exploration with other current studies on ethnomechanics, mobilities and particularly the
contemporary dissemination of motorcycles in different cultural areas are proposed, which may shed light on the
possible relational configurations between technology, environment and societ
Financial market integration: A complex and controversial journey
In this article, we develop a comprehensive review of the literature on financial integration (FI). More
specifically, we focus on all those empirical and theoretical works aimed at, first, measuring FI levels overtime,
and then examining the effects of rising FI on growth, macroeconomic stability, and risk sharing. Our literature
review indicates the presence of clear-cut and unanimous empirical evidence that FI increased over the last 50
(30) years in advanced economies (emerging economies). Unfortunately, there are no equally clear-cut evidence
on the implications of rising FI for economic growth, macroeconomic stability and risk sharing. Puzzlingly,
and inconsistently with theoretical predictions, an extensive empirical literature finds weak, inconclusive and
controversial evidence that rising FI levels have stimulated growth and risk-sharing. Our journey throughout
the literature on FI indicates that the reason for the existence of such controversial and inconclusive empirical
findings on the FI-growth and FI-risk sharing links is that the use of different FI measures, econometric
techniques, and definitions of FI make it difficult to synthesize results and draw robust conclusions
Toward a new paradigm of care: a surgical leaders’ Delphi consensus on the organizational factors of the new pancreas units (E-AHPBA PUECOF study)
Pancreas units represent new organizational models of care that are now at the center of the European debate. The PUECOF study, endorsed by the European–African Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (E-AHPBA), aims to reach an expert consensus by enquiring surgical leaders about the Pancreas Units’ most relevant organizational factors, with 30 surgical leaders from 14 countries participating in the Delphi survey. Results underline that surgeons believe in the need to organize multidisciplinary meetings, nurture team leadership, and create metrics. Clinical professionals and patients are considered the most relevant stakeholders, while the debate is open when considering different subjects like industry leaders and patient associations. Non-technical skills such as ethics, teamwork, professionalism, and leadership are highly considered, with mentoring, clinical cases, and training as the most appreciated facilitating factors. Surgeons show trust in functional leaders, key performance indicators, and the facilitating role played by nurse navigators and case managers. Pancreas units have a high potential to improve patients' outcomes. While the pancreas unit model of care will not change the technical content of pancreatic surgery, it may bring surgeons several benefits, including more cases, professional development, easier coordination, less stress, and opportunities to create fruitful connections with research institutions and industry leaders
Verbal and visual communication in constructive news across cultures: A case study of a bilingual English-Spanish corpus with a focus on metaphor
A global but under-recognized phenomenon, constructive news is an alternative to predominantly negative news. While it is known to have positive effects on readers, the nuts and bolts of the language and images that achieve these effects are under-researched. Drawing on theories and approaches from metaphor studies, news translation studies and (multimodal) discourse analysis, this article compares the use of verbal and visual/multimodal metaphor and visual metonymy in a bilingual corpus of UK and Spanish online constructive news, also considering them in the light of an interview with an employee of the Spanish news outlet. The findings shed light on how constructive news is ‘done’ across languages and cultures and suggest ways in which news translation studies and metaphor studies may benefit from each other's approaches

Lope de Vega, Vera y Zúñiga y la poética diplomática
This paper examines the relationship between Lope de Vega and Vera y Zúñiga in four points: after a review of their friendship in a chain of texts and paratexts, the examination focuses on the three theatrical dedications to Vera y Zúñiga (Los esclavos libres and La Felisarda, plus La ventura sin buscalla to his wife), to carry on to examine the diplomatic poetics of Vera and Zúñiga in El embajador and of Lope in the comedies to his friend.

The Role of Market Insights in Shaping Sustainable Mobility in Fast Developing Countries: The Case of Vietnam
Individual mobility represents one of the main contributors of air quality degradation in
urban areas, with detrimental social and environmental impacts as well as economic loss. Mobility
policies hence represent a key public instrument to curb congestion, pollution and health-related
problems. In order to be effective, they need to rely on an adequate knowledge of demand, in terms of
commuters’ attitudes, habit strength and perceived priorities. While most studies on the determinants
of modal choice are rooted in Western countries or in developed economies little evidence is available
for fast-developing countries, whose urban areas suffer from severe congestion and bad air quality.
We test a comprehensive model to predict mobility behaviors in Vietnam, by means of an empirical
investigation, with data from 898 participants (N = 898) collected via an online self-administered
questionnaire. We discuss the implications for policy of the research findings, which provide an
informational background representing a necessary prerequisite for the implementation of sound policies for the shift to more sustainable paradigms
Un'iscrizione vascolare dipinta dal tempio R di Selinunte (TP)
The paper publishes a fragmentary inscription painted on two pieces of a small open vessel found at Selinunte (Temple R) by the IFANYU and Unimi Mission during the 2023 campaign. The painted inscription, placed on the inside of the bowl, was characterized using portable X-ray 5uorescence (pXRF) in situ, and micro-Raman spectroscopy on a micro-sample, revealing the use of an ochre pigment. The inscription shows a few but clearly legible letters that can be read as part of an anthroponym or a theonym. The archaeological context and the state of conservation of the fragment suggest that the object is related to the phases preceding the construction of Temple R (628-570 BC) or, alternatively, that it was used in connection with the activities related to the construction of the building
