A 260 pc resolution ALMA map of HCN(1–0) in the galaxy NGC 4321
The property of star formation rate (SFR) is tightly connected to the amount of dense gas in molecular clouds. However, it is not fully understood how the relationship between dense molecular gas and star formation varies within galaxies and in different morphological environments. Most previous studies have typically been limited to kiloparsec-scale resolution such that different environments could not be resolved. In this work, we present new ALMA observations of HCN(1−0) at 260 pc scale to test how the amount of dense gas and its ability to form stars varies with environmental properties. Combined with existing CO(2−1) observations from ALMA and Hα from MUSE, we measured the HCN/CO line ratio, a proxy for the dense gas fraction, and SFR/HCN, a proxy for the star formation efficiency of the dense gas. We find a systematic > 1 dex increase (decreases) of HCN/CO (SFR/HCN) towards the centre of the galaxy, and roughly flat trends of these ratios (average variations < 0.3 dex) throughout the disc. While spiral arms, interarm regions, and bar ends show similar HCN/CO and SFR/HCN, on the bar, there is a significantly lower SFR/HCN at a similar HCN/CO. The strong environmental influence on dense gas and star formation in the centre of NGC 4321, suggests either that clouds couple strongly to the surrounding pressure or that HCN emission traces more of the bulk molecular gas that is less efficiently converted into stars. Across the disc, where the ISM pressure is typically low, SFR/HCN is more constant, indicating a decoupling of the clouds from their surrounding environment. The low SFR/HCN on the bar suggests that gas dynamics (e.g. shear and streaming motions) can have a large effect on the efficiency with which dense gas is converted into stars. In addition, we show that HCN/CO is a good predictor of the mean molecular gas surface density at 260 pc scales across environments and physical conditions.補正完畢DE
Unveiling a New Approach to Opinion Climate Analysis in Diverse Information Environments
本文重新解構Noelle-Neumann在沉默螺旋理論中的要素「準統計官能」(Quasi-Statistical Organ),將原本理論所處的媒介環境修正為當今多元的資訊環境,透過平臺的特性與介面展現的集體用戶表現(Aggregate User Representation)發展出更貼近批踢踢實業坊(PTT)使用者「鄉民」視角的資料蒐集途徑,並利用語料庫分析取徑萃取出能夠提取、預測意見氣候的探測語(Probes),藉此發展出能夠不先預設觀測範圍的意見氣候分析架構。
資料結果顯示,本文還原準統計官能的原理,利用介面的集體用戶表現與修正過後的「探測語」概念設計出可以持續更新的資料蒐集方式,並搭配自建語料庫分析的方式,能建立一個可持續更新探測語的分析架構,且實測以此架構找出的探測語確實能發揮預測意見氣候的效果。本文認為從介面與準統計官能的角度建立的意見氣候分析框架,將更能夠因應瞬息萬變的網路資訊環境,且探索過去預先劃定觀測範圍所不能觀測到的細微現象。補正完畢TW
uturizing DBA Programme: A Class in Kazakhstan
This essay aims to share with the community of practice an approach for incorporating and embedding Futures and scenarios into business school curriculum as part of strategy development practice with a view to strike a balance between scientific rigour and practical relevance of management education. Through the conduct of a 3-day Foresight for Strategy Development workshop curated for as an intensive course for a cohort of DBA students at the Narxoz Business School, Almaty, Kazakhstan, the author describes the step-by-step process of building scenarios and shares some of the learning outcomes from the workshop. The 3-day workshop was designed with two objectives; that is, to teach the basic skills of futures thinking by introducing futures studies, and to incorporate the five stages of scenario development process as part of strategic planning practice. While students learned the reasons for and the process of embedding scenarios as a planning tool, and were able to apply theory to practice in classroom exercises, this cohort of DBA students found it quite challenging to have a proper grasp of Futures concepts and methodologies. They were overwhelmed by the amount of contents they have to process within the space of a 3-day intensive workshop. This feedback was not peculiar to this cohort of students and it was a common lament received from the various workshops conducted in different countries including Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Taiwan, Bahrain and Oman. This was particularly true with those in the developing economies where futures studies is relatively a new discipline. This experience tells us there is an opportunity to fill this void by introducing and embedding futures studies and scenarios as part of the planning and strategy development in Management courses in Kazakhstan.補正完畢US
An Exploratory Analysis of Editorial Notes on Compilations of Republican Era Archives Published in Mainland China
凡例係一書編纂之依循,其內容除可反映編輯者編書之目的、背景與所收錄之範圍外,更說明著該書編輯時所使用之符號、呈現之資訊及遇到問題時之處理方式等,可謂檔案文獻彙編書籍成書之圭臬。本文為避免不同時空背景下檔案文獻差異而增加研究之變因,藉由國立政治大學歷史相關科系近二十年(2003-2022)畢業論文內容與中華民國政府大陸時期(1912-1949)歷史相關者所引用文獻進行分析,從中篩選整理大陸所出版此時期檔案文獻資料彙編書刊之「凡例」,並參酌相關文獻資料,以探討各典藏單位與編輯人員對於此一時期檔案在進行彙編時所著重呈現資訊、內容與方式,從而作為日後相關單位與研究之參考依據。補正完畢TW
臺灣照相館黑白相片手工上色發展:以南庄玉光照相館為例
早期因攝影技術尚未成熟,照片無法以彩色的方式呈現,僅能以黑白的形式將照片保存記錄,為了使照片更符合真實,也因此自19世紀中葉出現了藉由手工上色的方式,從而讓黑白照片得以呈現色彩,雖無法完全的呈現眼睛所見真實世界的樣態,然卻可達當下人們心中所期待的顏色。黑白照片手工上色的作法在過去並不罕見,為傳統相館中常見之服務項目,然隨著彩色底片與相紙的普及,以及數位科技的進步,使得人們逐漸淡忘過去習以為常的記錄方式,甚而漠視傳統照相館上色師技術及其作品的文化價值。在這樣的背景之下,過去照相館上色師逐漸凋零,相關文獻紀錄更係闕如,也因此有系統地記錄這項即將消逝的產業記憶有其急迫與必要性。有鑑於此,本文除藉由文獻的分析與爬梳,論述黑白照片手工上色自19世紀中葉的崛起與東漸情形,並針對苗栗南庄玉光照相館負責人李湞吉進行口訪,配合相關文獻的整理,分作照片手工上色的進入市場,以及技術與學習等幾項議題,期能藉此一窺過去臺灣照相館在黑白照片手工上色之發展情形,並藉此為臺灣攝影產業留下難得的紀錄。補正完畢TW
