Pesticide Residues in Vegetables: a Public Health Concern
It is impossible to overstate the economic importance of pesticide residues in vegetables and ecosystem. Relatively good amount of pesticides are naturally persistent (organochlorines, DDT) which is deposited and biomagnify in higher-trophic-level biological system. It is critical to properly examine the risks of eating pesticide-treated vegetables. As agriculture becomes more intense, more hazardous organic and inorganic compounds are released into the environment. Pesticides are among the most harmful compounds polluting the environment, due to its popular usage, toxicity specificity, able to bioaccumulate in organisms and are very stable. They are especially harmful in vegetables, which expose people to them. Pesticide residues in vegetables must therefore be closely monitored. These pesticides pose great threat to the environment and consequently to global health as a result of their general usage. Pesticides are classification as: Based on their toxicity/hazardous effects; use/purpose; chemical makeup; mode of action; function (how or when), and source of origin. Pesticides mode of actions in plants and animals basically is inhibition of some biochemical pathways (photosynthesis, growth hormones, enzymes activities, respiration etc.)
Analysis of Factors Influencing Private Real Estate Development in Peri-Urban Area of Bida
Peri-urban an area characterized by an overlapping between residential and agricultural activities. It is transition zone between well organized, recognized urban land uses and areas devoted to agriculture. Poor urban planning and management result in haphazard growth that spreads to the periphery in Bida, which is described as strip and nodal physical growth that has not happened under planning control. The study thereby analyzed the drivers or factors of peri-urban development with a view to identifying the factors influencing rate of private development in Bida peripheral. The study administered 340 questionnaires through simple random sampling technique to the private properties’ developers and 270 questionnaires were retrieved and analyzed. According to the results of the descriptive study, urban congestion, significant public investment, and the presence of social amenities were the main forces or influences behind peri-urban growth in Bida. The research consequently suggests that public planning policies for metropolitan areas be implemented to prevent people from moving to the periphery
Luminescence Properties of Rare Earth Sm3+ Doped Ca2Mg2Al28O46 Phosphor for white light emitting diode
The luminescence characteristics of Ca2Mg2Al28O46 doped with rare earth Sm3+ produced through combustion synthesis. To investigate the luminescence characteristics, the phosphors photoluminescence (PL) spectra were also obtained. The PL spectra show significant orange-red emission at 567 nm and 614 nm for the produced materials using a 405 nm excitation, which is attributable 4G5/2→6H5/2 and4G5/2→6H7/2 transition of rare earth Sm3+.The optimum concentration of Sm3+ ions in Ca2Mg2Al28O46 was discovered to be 1.5 mole %, above which concentration quenching was observed. The colour coordinates of Sm3+ doped Ca2Mg2Al28O46 phosphor are (x,y) of (0.532, 0.467) and (0.677, 0.322). All of these results point to the suitability of Ca2Mg2Al28O46 phosphor doped with Sm3+ ions for display and w-LED
Role of Women in Good Governance
The concept of "good" governance requires making normative decisions about what constitutes the legal appropriation and efficient exercise of authority. Some organisations that offer outside assistance and social activists view good governance as implying democratic governance, which implies a focus on participation, human rights, and social justice. Some people simply refer to it as managing the nation's endowments of natural and human resources in a way that produces public goods (such as security and justice) and distributes them in a way that fosters economic growth and human development. Others use the term to describe the creation of public goods. IFIs (International Financial Institutions) have a more constrained perspective on governance. In their eyes, "good governance" is more about the effectiveness of the state than it is about the justice of the economic system or the legitimacy of the political system. Decision-makers' ability to act to improve the suffering of disadvantaged women or address the problem of gender inequality depends on how policies are implemented in practise. The process has only just begun with the signing of international agreements and the enactment of laws addressing issues like women's rights, equal access to education, marital rape, and credit and property ownership. Legislation and policy must be understood in terms of governmental directives, funding allotments, institutional arrangements, operational procedures, and monitoring standards. The concept of "governance" clarifies the link between political commitment and the successful and efficient implementation of programmes. Reform efforts for governance systems have received a lot of attention recently and are still receiving attention now on a national and international level
Experimental and Theoretical Investigation of the Elastic Properties of Zinc oxide
The main aim of this study is to review and compile the elastic properties of zinc oxide and investigate which density functional method either the LDA or the GGA method have excellent agreement with the experimental data. The LDA values and the GGA values of elastic stiffness constant Cij(GPa) and poisson’s ratio of zno are analyzed statistically and compared with the surface ultrasonic , brillouin zone and acoustic technique experimental values. Similarly, the LDA and GGA values of Bulk modulus and Young’s modulus (GPa) are statistically analyzed and compared with the experimental values. Moreover, it was found that that the LDA values of stiffness constant exhibited maximum deviation 17.8%,15.84%,14.2% from the ultrasonic, brillouin and acoustic values, whereas, the GGA indicated 27.6%,29.67%,2.7% maximum deviation from the ultrasonic, brillouin and acoustic experimental values respectively. The Poisson’s ratio LDA values are exhibited deviation 32.7%,16.1%,2.1% while the GGA values exhibited 51.3%,28%,0.24% from the ultrasonic, brillouin zone and acoustic experimental values separately. The bulk modulus and young modulus LDA values exhibited deviation 2.6% and 10% while GGA values exhibited 6.4% and 33% from the experimental values. As a result, it is revealed that the LDA method has good agreement than the GGA
The Growth Enhancement Potentials of Indigenous Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria on Sweet Pepper (Caspicum annum) through Seed Bacterization
The demand for food is rising as the world's population is rising. The second sustainable development goal's objectives of achieving global food security and agricultural sustainability call for swift and coordinated action. The use of traditional mineral fertilizers has increased dramatically in response to the rise in food demand, but this has its drawbacks. Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) which is a free-living bacteria actively colonize plant roots and aids it growth. They provide an environmentally friendly way to boost plant output. Due to the high nutritional content and wide range of medicinal applications of sweet pepper (Capsicum annuum L.), it constitute one of the most significant vegetable crops in the world.. sweet pepper (Capsicum annum ) was evaluated through a pot study under the treatment of six bacterial strains. Bacterization of sweet pepper seeds was done via the immersion of seeds in a suspension of bacteria (108 CFU/ml) modified with 2% carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), The treated seeds were planted in sterilized planting bags with sterilized sand, Effects of bacterized seeds of Capsicum annuum on the shoot height revealed that the highest shoot height was observed at week 8 by isolate AU4(Burkholderia sp) at (9.66±12.15), followed by AU6 (Burkholderia sp ) at week 6 (6.26±0.05). The highest leaf number of Capsicum annuum after bacterization was observed at week 8(9.00±0.0) and 10(9.00±0.0), while the observed control at week 8(6.00±1.0) week 10(7.00±0.0). Plant growth-promoting bacteria applied via seed bacterization has shown potential for increasing the growth parameters of sweet pepper. This could be a formidable substitute for the use of chemical fertilizers. The use of Burkholderia vietnamiensis AU2011 and Burkholderia sp have shown potential for the increment of the agronomical parameter of C. annuum
Tactile System for Visually Impaired People Using Embedded Technology
People who are visually handicapped or blind rely on others to get from one place to another. In metropolitan settings, various systems are utilized to tell blind people of the direction of their travel. The majority of navigation systems dedicated to guiding the blind are voice-based. However, due to the tremendous noise produced by heavy traffic in urban locations, voice information is unreliable. It drastically reduces perception of commands generated by the blind person's ear buds. This study describes the invention of a vibrotactile approach for guiding a visually impaired person in metropolitan environments. It is a straightforward and successful strategy. It is made up of soft wovibrators that are placed on the left and right arms of their shoulders and produce vibrations by hapticperception, which is specifically produced by regulated hardware and software. Even in heavy traffic, the blind person can quickly identify the safe path on a walk using touch sensing. This tactile technology largely overcomes the shortcomings of the voice-based approach
Assess of Calcitonin against Arthritis
Preliminary exploration suggests that a medicine now used to treat osteoporosis may also help save bone health and detention or maybe help the onset of osteoarthritis. According to a new study, calcitonin treatment effectively reduced cartilage declination in rat models of osteoarthritis. Degenerative common complaint, frequently known as osteoarthritis, is a complaint in which cartilage in the joints breaks down, causing injury. Calcitonin is being used to treat Paget's complaint of the bone and osteoporosis, as it has been shown to help bone loss in former studies. According to the experimenters, these data suggest that calcitonin may also help help common declination associated with osteoarthritis ( OA). Further than 10 of Americans suffer from osteoarthritis, the most common common complaint. The major thing of osteoarthritis treatment is to palliate the pain caused by common stiffness and inflammation. No treatment has yet been approved to stop the complaint's adding cartilage loss. A recent swell in interest in creating complaint- modifying osteoarthritis medicines targeted at maybe precluding the illness in people at threat, similar as postmenopausal women, has rebounded from a lesser understanding of the complaint's progression. According to multiple studies, hormone relief remedy may help postmenopausal women avoid osteoarthritis. Calcitonin and oestrogen both helped to keep common cartilage from demeaning on the face." Calcitonin treatment may help the acceleration of cartilage breakdown and the performing increase in face attritions," explains Bodil- Cecilie Sondergaard of Nordic Bioscience Diagnostics
Connecting the Disconnected
The shift from the usual into the ‘now normal’ imposed a great challenge on the education of the young. Amidst the CoViD-19 pandemic, the delivery of instruction to the learners transitions from face-to-face to flexible learning opportunities where virtual learning platform is encouraged. This study seeks to provide hands-on experiences to the technology immigrant participants to cater the learning needs and demands of the tech-immersed learners through scaffolding. Due to the strict observance of safety protocols, the project purposively identifies only seven (7) participants for the Salindunong Program and were subjected into the two sessions: indulgence to learning community, and using the messenger, zoom, or google meet for virtual conferencing. Employing the Narrative Analysis of the Qualitative Research design as point of inquiry, narratives were gathered, validated, and analyzed thematically. Moreover, the study reveals the lived experiences and observations of digital immigrants prior to the conduct of training/intervention which centers on two (2) themes: Digital knowledge experience of the participants prior to the conduct of the training/intervention, and their impression on the significance of the scaffold on a child’s learning success in a technology-immersed learning environment. The series of sessions on the offerings of the Salindunong Program validated that the learning success of tech-immersed learners during home learning is influenced by the quality of scaffold provided by the immediate family/environment of the child
Fibonacci Numbers as a Natural Phenomenon
This paper presents an attempt to explain and experiment with Fibonacci numbers. It is illustrated with examples and concrete cases many of the properties of these numbers which are often found in practice or even are things that we see and touch every day. My goal has been to make a summary of writings, analyzes, studies, games, natural events as well as research by means of examples for famous Fibonacci numbers. The Fibonacci sequence can be observed in a variety of stunning phenomena in nature. Therefore, this study first presents the Fibonacci sequence and also describes some of the Fibonacci sequence phenomena presented in our living world
