    Mapping students' perceptions of mathematics learning: a principal component analysis study

    This study investigated the multidimensional landscape of students' perceptions of mathematics learning using principal component analysis (PCA). Data were collected from 102 high school students (grades 9-12, mean age 16.2 years) in Indonesia. The survey, adapted from validated scales including the Fennema-Sherman Mathematics Attitudes Scales and the Attitudes Towards Mathematics Inventory, assessed various aspects of mathematics learning perceptions. Analysis revealed fifteen initial components that were subsequently consolidated into two major factors. The first factor encompassed variables related to external and environmental aspects: learning interest, parental support, motivation, difficulties, resources, school facilities, approaches, classrooms, materials, and methods. The second factor comprised internal and cognitive elements: conceptual understanding, self-confidence, learning models, anxiety, and techniques. The PCA results highlight the complex interplay between cognitive, affective, and contextual factors in mathematics learning. The findings suggest that interventions should adopt a holistic approach, addressing both environmental and cognitive dimensions. This research contributes to educational practice by identifying key areas for targeted intervention while demonstrating the effectiveness of PCA in understanding complex educational phenomena. Future studies could explore these factors' generalizability across different educational contexts and their longitudinal evolution

    Debtor Eligibility Prediction Using Deep Learning with Chatbot-Based Testing

    Predicting debtor eligibility is essential for effective risk management and minimizing bad credit risks. However, financial institutions face challenges such as imbalanced data, inefficient feature selection, and limited user accessibility. This study combines Recursive Feature Elimination (RFE) and Deep Learning (DL) to improve prediction accuracy and integrates a chatbot interface for user-friendly testing. RFE effectively identifies critical features, while the DL model achieves a validation accuracy of 97.62%, surpassing previous studies with less comprehensive methodologies. The chatbot's novel design not only ensures accessibility but also enhances user engagement through flexible input options, such as approximate values, enabling non-experts to interact seamlessly with the system. For financial institutions, this chatbot-based testing approach offers practical benefits by streamlining debtor evaluation processes, reducing dependency on manual assessments, and providing consistent, scalable, and efficient solutions for credit risk management. It allows institutions to handle inquiries outside business hours, ensuring a continuous service flow. Furthermore, the system’s flexibility supports better customer interaction, increasing trust and transparency. By combining advanced machine learning with accessible interfaces, this study offers a scalable solution to improve the precision and practicality of debtor eligibility assessments, making it a valuable tool for modern financial institutions

    MODEL OF EDUCATION RECONSTRUCTION TERHADAP MISKONSEPSI PESERTA DIDIK PADA TOPIK RESPIRASI ANAEROB

    Abstrak. Respirasi Anaerob merupakan salah satu topik pelajaran biologi yang wajib dipelajari oleh peserta didik kelas XII IPA. Pada topik respirasi anaerob mempelajari tentang bioteknologi. Bioteknologi sangat bermanfaat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari karena penerapannya berkaitan dengan respirasi anaerob. Namun pada topik ini memiliki tingkat kesulitan yang cukup tinggi dan seringkali peserta didik mengalami miskonsepsi pada tahapan, pemanfaatan mikrobia dan produk yang dihasilkan dalam respirasi anaerob. Dengan demikian diperlukan Model of Education Reconstruction (MER) untuk memperbaiki konsepsi peserta didik menjadi konsep ilmuan dengan penerapan desain pembelajaran berbasis video dan praktikum. Penggunaan video dalam kegiatan pembelajaran dapat memaparkan tahapan dan pemanfaatan mikrobia dalam penerapan konsep respirasi anaerob. Sedangkan melalui kegiatan praktikum peserta didik dapat melihat secara langsung produk yang dihasilkan dalam respirasi anaerob. Subjek penelitian ini berjumlah 20 orang peserta didik kelas XII IPA SMA Negeri 11 Kota Bengkulu dengan 10 orang laki-laki dan 10 orang perempuan. Instrumen penelitian berupa three-tier test yang diberikan kepada sampel pada kegiatan pre-assesment dan post-assesment. Hasil penelitian pada pre-assesment menunjukkan konsepsi peserta didik pada topik respirasi anaerob tergolong rendah, dengan data 33% miskonsepsi, 42% tidak tahu konsep, dan 25% tahu konsep. Setelah dilaksanakan Model of Education Reconstruction (MER) berbasis video dan praktikum, konsepsi peserta didik mengalami peningkatan. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil post-assesment, yaitu 16% miskonsepsi, 2 % tidak tahu konsep, dan 82% tahu konsep. Dari persentase tersebut menunjukkan bahwa Model of Education Reconstruction (MER) berbasis video dan praktikum mampu meningkatkan pemahaman konseptual peserta didik pada topik respirasi anaerob. Abstract. Anaerobic Respiration is one of biology topics that must be studied by XII IPA high school Students. The topic is Biotechnology which useful in everyday life due to its application related to anaerobic respiration. However, this topic has a fairly high level of difficulty and sometimes make students get misconceptions about the stages between microbes and the products produced in anaerobic respiration. Thus a Model of Education Reconstruction (MER) is needed to improve students' conceptions into scientific concepts by applying video-based learning designs and practicums. It can be used to explain the stages and utilization of microbes in applying the concept of anaerobic respiration. Meanwhile, through practicum, the students can see directly the products produced in anaerobic respiration. The subjects of this study were 20 students of XII IPA high School in Bengkulu City which consist of 10 boys and 10 girls. The research instrument was a three-tier test which was given to the sample in the pre-assessment and post-assessment activities. The results of the pre-assessment showed that students' conceptions on the topic of anaerobic respiration were low, with the data of 33% misconceptions, 42% did not know the concept, and 25% knew the concept. After implementing the video and practicum-based Model of Education Reconstruction (MER), students' conceptions have increased. This is evidenced by the post-assessment results, namely 16% had misconceptions, 2% did not know the concept, and 82% knew the concept. This percentage shows that the video-based Model of Education Reconstruction (MER) and practicum can improve students conceptual understanding on the topic of anaerobic respiration

    Media dalam prespektif pendidikan merupakan instrumen yang sangat strategis dalam ikut menentukan keberhasilan proses belajar mengajar. Sebab keberadaannya secara langsung dapat memberikan dinamika tersendiri terhadap peserta didik. Kegiatan pembelajaran di TK Pertiwi Kabupaten Jember, guru hanya menjelaskan dan menyebutkan materi tanpa menggunakan media tambahan untuk mengajar sehingga membuat anak tidak fokus dan mengerti akan materi yang dijelaskan oleh guru. Tujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses pengembangan media flannel board untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir simbolik pada anak dan untuk mengetahui efektifitas penerapan pengembangan media flannel board untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir simbolik pada anak. Tahap analisis untuk mengetahu kebutuhan apa yang diperlukan oleh sekolah. Tahap desain untuk merancang media pembelajaran dan rancangan kegiatan. Tahap pengembangan untuk uji validitas terhadap desan yang telah disusun. Tahap implementasi untuk mempraktikkan secara langsung media yang telah dirancang. Metode yang digunakan yaitu wawancara, observasi, dokumentasi, validasi. Hasil penelitian menggunakan hasil uji validitas ahli dengan skor rata-rata secara keseluruhan 4,23 dengan kategori valid. Uji kepraktisan dengan skor rata-rata 4,17 dengan kriteria valid. Uji keefektifan dengan skor rata-rata 80,5 dengan kriteria efektif

    Comparing Maternal and Paternal Parenting in Student Academic Performance: A Systematic Literature Review From 2013 To 2023

    Students’ academic success is significantly associated with parents. Given the varied effects of parenting on student academic performance, it is a strong need for independent research on the impact of maternal parenting and paternal parenting to learn more about the mechanisms of parenting influence. By systematically reviewing the literature from 2013 to 2023, this study aims to provide the landscape of maternal parenting and paternal parenting as well as to compare the effect of them on student academic performance. The results revealed insufficient published studies in the field and uneven research in terms of geographic distribution, the volume of studies, and the stage of student learning. The analysis found that the effects of maternal and paternal parenting were both controversial. Regarding the manners, involvement level, time spending, and the effect size, the influence of maternal parenting and paternal parenting on student academic performance were distinguished significantly. These findings are not only helpful to reveal the mechanism of maternal and paternal parenting differences on student academic performance, but also provide practical guidance for schools and parent

    Hubungan Pola Asuh Orang Tua dengan Pola Makan Anak Kelompok B di TK Kemala Bhayangkari 11 Tumpang

    Orang tua memiliki peran yang sangat penting terhadap pertumbuhan dan perkembangan anak. Namun masih banyak orang tua yang terlalu sibuk dengan kepentingannya sehingga membuat perannya sebagai orang tua terlalaikan. Kesibukan orang tua ini menyebabkan kurangnya perhatian terhadap anak, salah satunya yaitu kurang memperhatikan pola makan anak. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui hubungan pola asuh orang tua dengan pola makan anak kelompok B di TK Kemala Bhayangkari 11 Tumpang. Metode penelitian ini yaitu penelitian korelasional dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh orang tua dari peserta didik kelompok B di TK Kemala Bhayangkari 11 Tumpang dengan jumlah 30 responden. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan kuesioner dan dianalisis dengan uji Spearman Rank. Hasil penelitian dengan pengujian Spearman Rank diperoleh nilai  value sebesar 0,002 , sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara pola asuh orang tua dengan pola makan anak kelompok B di TK Kemala Bhayangkari 11 Tumpang. Dari hasil penelitian diharapkan orang tua dapat menambah pengetahuan mengenai pola asuh dan pola makan anak

    Pengembangan Integritas Akademik Mahasiswa Melalui Praktik Belajar Studi Kasus

    Academic ethics are supposed to be followed by the academic community, but certain members are engaging in practices that are against these rules and ethics. Students can easily be influenced by these violators to commit the same act. A more efficient approach is necessary for instilling academic integrity among students. The purpose of this study is to analyze case-study-based learning techniques that can enhance academic integrity among students. The role of academic integrity is crucial in shaping individuals to be honest, fair, and ethical when carrying out their academic duties. Academic integrity is linked to the presence of faculty role models, student morality, and the incorporation of religious teachings, as demonstrated by similar research.This study will examine instructional design using Merrill's model and artificial intelligence to generate learning cases that instill academic integrity values in students Preliminary results from ongoing research suggest that utilizing a case-based approach with artificial intelligence can enhance students' understanding and application of academic integrity. Achieving academic integrity among students can be achieved through case-based learning practices that are powered by artificial intelligence. Students can internalize academic integrity values and apply them in their academic activities through the integration of Merrill's instructional design model. Abstrak Etika akademik seharusnya ditaati oleh komunitas akademik, tetapi beberapa individu melakukan praktik-praktik yang bertentangan dengan peraturan dan etika ini. Mahasiswa dapat dengan mudah dipengaruhi oleh para pelaku pelanggaran ini untuk melakukan tindakan yang sama. Pendekatan yang lebih tepat diperlukan untuk meningkatkan integritas akademik di kalangan mahasiswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk merancang teknik pembelajaran berbasis studi kasus yang dapat meningkatkan integritas akademik di kalangan mahasiswa untuk membiasakan bersikap jujur, adil, dan beretika dalam menjalankan tugas-tugas akademiknya. Integritas akademik terkait dengan adanya keteladanan dari dosen, moralitas mahasiswa, dan penerapan ajaran agama, seperti yang ditunjukkan oleh penelitian sebelumnya. Penelitian ini akan mengkaji desain instruksional dengan model instruksional Merrill dan menggunakan kecerdasan buatan untuk menghasilkan kasus pembelajaran yang dapat menanamkan nilai-nilai integritas akademik pada mahasiswa. Hasil awal dari penelitian yang sedang berlangsung menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan pendekatan berbasis kasus dengan kecerdasan buatan dapat meningkatkan pemahaman dan penerapan integritas akademik pada mahasiswa. Tercapainya integritas akademik di kalangan mahasiswa dapat diwujudkan melalui praktik pembelajaran berbasis kasus yang didukung dengan kecerdasan buatan.     Developing animated video-based learning with powtoon to foster critical thinking in data presentation

    Critical thinking is a vital skill for students to interpret data and make informed decisions, especially in data presentation. This study focuses on developing and evaluating animated video-based learning content using Powtoon software to enhance critical thinking skills in data presentation, following the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate) instructional design model. In the Analyze phase, a needs assessment was conducted to identify gaps in students' critical thinking skills regarding data interpretation. During the Design and Develop phases, instructional videos were created to target key critical thinking components, including analysis, interpretation, and evaluation. In the Implement phase, the content was introduced to an experimental group, with a control group using traditional instructional methods. A quasi-experimental approach with pre- and post-tests measured critical thinking improvements in both groups. Results demonstrated a significant increase in critical thinking abilities within the experimental group, with mean scores improving from 55.2 to 82.4, compared to the control group’s increase from 54.8 to 65.3. The study concludes that Powtoon-animated videos are an effective tool for fostering critical thinking in data presentation, offering practical implications for multimedia-assisted learning in mathematics education. Recommendations for further research on technology integration in education are discussed
