TESOL : Using and Correcting Errors in Teaching English Conversation
Teaching is a complex, multifaceted process with many interconnected parts, and an often‐maligned feature of the learning component is errors. Brain scientists have come to understand that making mistakes is a necessary and beneficial part of learning. This paper will first present the rationale for encouraging and including errors in language lessons to enhance learning. From there, strategies to acclimate students to be comfortable with making errors in the language classroom will be described. Finally, error‐compatible correction techniques when teaching English conversation as a second or foreign language will be presented
