OSSERVAZIONI IN TEMA DI SOCIO ACCOMANDATARIO CESSATO E PERMANENZA DEL NOME NELLA RAGIONE SOCIALE DELLA S.A.S.

    No full text

Microwave-assisted synthesis of indoloquinoxaline derivatives as promising anti-alzheimer agents: DFT and molecular docking study

    No full text
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by cognitive decline. One of the major pathological features of AD is the degeneration of cholinergic neurons and associated loss of acetylcholine (ACh), a key neurotransmitter involved in memory and cognition. Reduced ACh levels correlate with the severity of cognitive symptoms in AD. Thus, inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE), the enzyme responsible for breaking down ACh, is a leading treatment strategy. This study aimed to synthesize and evaluate novel AChE inhibitors based on an indolo[2,3-b]quinoxaline b ]quinoxaline scaffold. A series of indolo[2,3-b]quinoxaline derivatives were designed by molecular hybridization of indole and quinoxaline privileged structures. Microwave-assisted synthesis improved the efficiency of obtaining the desired compounds. In vitro screening identified several potent AChE inhibitors, with IC50 50 values down to 0.02 mu M. The most active compounds contained electron-withdrawing groups like nitro and benzoyl moieties. DFT calculations provided insights into geometrical, thermal, and electronic properties of the compounds. FMO analysis revealed variations in HOMO and LUMO energies that impact reactivity. Molecular docking elucidated binding modes, highlighting the pi-pi, pi-H, and H-bonding interactions with key amino acids in the catalytic gorge of AChE. Overall, the indole-quinoxaline hybrids represent promising candidates for development of novel dual binding site AChE inhibitors and multifunctional anti-Alzheimer agents

Earthquake-proofing history: seismic assessment of Caserta Vecchia medieval bell tower

    No full text
This study presents an integrated approach for the seismic assessment of the 13th-century San Michele Arcangelo Cathedral Bell Tower in Caserta Vecchia, Italy, utilizing a detailed photogrammetric survey and Finite Element (FE) modelling. The analysis focuses on the structural vulnerability and seismic response of the historical masonry tower to assess its response against earthquake-induced damage. By employing Ambient Vibration Tests (AVTs) present in literature and calibrating the FE model accordingly, the research identifies the principal vibrational modes and natural frequencies of the tower, enhancing the model's accuracy. Various earthquake intensities were inputted to the structural model to evaluate the bell tower's structural performance and potential collapse mechanisms. The findings reveal a significant susceptibility of damage under severe seismic conditions, emphasizing the critical need for tailored conservation strategies to preserve such irreplaceable cultural heritage. The study underscores the importance of integrating historical documentation, structural analysis, and modern engineering techniques to safeguard historical architecture in seismically active areas

Finite difference schemes with non polynomial local conservation laws

    No full text
A new technique has been recently introduced to define finite difference schemes that preserve local conservation laws. So far, this approach has been applied to find parametric families of numerical methods with polynomial conservation laws. This paper extends the existing approach to preserve non polynomial conservation laws. Although the approach is general, the treatment of the nonlinear terms depends on the problem at hand. New parameter depending families of conservative schemes are here introduced for the sine-Gordon equation and a magma equation. Optimal methods in each family are identified by finding values of the parameters that minimize a defect-based approximation of the local error in the time discretization

Artemisia herba-alba Essential Oil: Chemical Composition, Phytotoxic Activity and Environmental Safety

    No full text
Weeds cause a decrease in the quantity and quality of agricultural production and economic damage to producers. The prolonged use of synthetic pesticides causes problems of environmental pollution, the possible alteration of agricultural products and problems for human health. For this reason, the scientific community’s search for products of natural origin, which are biodegradable, safe for human health and can act as valid alternatives to traditional herbicides, is growing. Essential oils can have useful implications in agriculture by acting as effective alternatives to chemical herbicides. In this work, the chemical composition of an EO from Artemisia herba-alba and its herbicidal properties were studied on two weeds (Lolium multiflorum and Trifolium pratense) and two crops (Brassica napus and Hordeum vulgare) and its environmental safety was also assessed using three model organisms: Chaoborus sp., Tubifex tubifex and Eisenia foetida. The principal component of the EO was camphor (26.02%), with α- and β-thujone (9.60 and 8.38%, respectively), 1,8-cineole (8.02%), piperitenone (5.29%) and camphene (4.95%) as the main components. The EO demonstrated variable phytotoxic effects with a dose-dependent manner, inhibiting both the germination and the radical elongation of the tested seeds, and was also found to be environmentally safe for the selected organisms. The results lay the foundation for considering this EO as a potential weed control agent
