Comparison of object and object-relational databases

Abstract

The main topic of this thesis is the comparison of the object oriented paradigm with an object relational approach to data management systems. This work analyses object paradigms in contrary with relational principles and questions if they are beneficial for current data management systems. Performance comparison of these two approaches is being made on highly complex data between database systems PostgreSQL and db4o. The essentiality of using one of these approaches is examined in a case study from Bosch
